i have been really busy with my prelims,
and this is probably going to be one of my last entries
until the mid of November.

my mum and sis always had a problem
with the tv shows that mediacorp are airing.

of course,
other than channel U,
mum is always critisising channel 8 to no end.

and of course,
being an influential mother,
my sis and i are almost brainwashed by her comments
that channel 8 REALLY produces sucky shows.

(now that i have seen and concluded for myself,
channel 8 IS really sucky.

but that,
of course,
is completely another different story.)



our living room conversations always go like this.

(tv is airing a tv serial clip,
which shows some "A-listers" acting in it)

sister: (looking at the clip, face screwed up with
disgust) aiyo! why always go these people acting one?
mediacorp got no other people to act meh?

mum: (as if on cue) ya la. so many years already,
still got all these all hags acting as if they are really THAT good.
aiyo.

me: (not really listening) hmmm.

sis: aiyah, they all (mediacorp) no money one mah,
cannot hire new artistes la.

mum: yes, yes, i agree.

mum and sis:(cackling) hee haw! hee haw!

me:(still not really listening) ......


if you think that this is ridiculous,
wait,
still got another kind.


(tv is airing a tv serial clip,
staring talent search contestors
acting in small roles in the drama)

sister: (disgusted, again) oi! why mediacorp always
take advantage of the contestors one ah?

mum: aiyah, they no money one mah,
cannot hire new artistes.

sister and mum:(cackling) hee haw! hee haw!




sometimes i wonder why were they both
born in the year of the tiger.

they would have made good horses instead.


anyway,
i tried to explain that why mediacorp is
letting the contestors to act,
probably is to pacify homegrown critics like them,
whom always wanted new artistes to act.

but being stubborn,
they would always shake off my claims.

"Ah, whatever," they would say.




sometimes,
i wish my mum will subscribe to cable tv.

at least,
she and sis can watch all their HK and
taiwan dramas they wanted.

just don't let them see the trailers
of the infamous
"The Ultimate Comedian".

otherwise my ears have to suffer
another round of agony,
again.
